For central government departments, fee for filing RTI application is Rs. 10 with every RTI request. Payment methods may differ from government to government. While submitting an request in individual, some organizations recognize money while others do not. Some ask for an Indian Postal Order (IPO) for Court Fee Stamp. When sending an RTI request by post, we can use Rs. 10’s IPO / Court Fee Stamp.
Those below the poverty line (BPL) don’t have to pay Rs. 10 as a fee for filing an RTI.
If you’ve asked the public post to furnish copies of some documents, you’ll have to pay Rs. 2 per section. Once your request is received by the office and the amount you will have to pay for making copies is ascertained, you will receive intimation by post. You can create the payment by sending the stamp / demand draft of the said quantity by postal order / court fee.
